CPRS Health Academy

Just over two years ago, the Health Care Public Relations Association (HCPRA) became part of CPRS and the Health Care Academy was created. Since then there has been a lot of behind-the-scenes work to take membership for CPRS members in the health sector to the next level.

Here is a summary of the next steps being implemented:

  1. Currently, CPRS has two health-related professional categories in the membership directory: Health category and the Health Care Academy (former HCPRA members). At its meeting in November, the CPRS Board approved combining these two categories to create the Health Academy. The National Office will implement this step by the end of January 2018. (If you wish to be associated with another category, just contact the National Office.)
  2. The CPRS Board approved the creation of a Health Academy Council to implement the strategic communications plan for the coming year, including planning PD events for Health Academy members. This Council will engage the more than 100 CPRS members who work in the health sector, and encourage other health sector public relations practitioners across the country to consider joining CPRS.

We are looking for a few volunteers to be part of the Council, which will meet about six times a year by conference call. If you are interested, please reach out to one of us. Terms of reference for the Health Academy Council are available.

Together, we want to create a health sector community of practice for collaboration, networking and learning. And we welcome your involvement. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it.

Please send us your thoughts and ideas for the CPRS Health Academy and consider getting involved. You will be hearing more from us – and we look forward to hearing from you too!
