Senior Account Executive, Corporate Communications


Job Description

Edelman Toronto is looking for a Senior Account Executive to work with our Corporate Communications team. You need to be a self-starter with a can-do attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges. You will be a strong writer with excellent attention to detail. You are a master at building relationships with team members and you are eager to learn about different industries.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of today’s news and media landscape
    • Contribute to the development of communications strategies and tactics for clients, including research, key message development, audience and media analysis, media list development, timeline development, etc.
    • Write first drafts of communications materials, including key messages, Q&A documents, media pitch notes, news releases, and employee communications materials; and be a great proof-reader
    • Track and report reputation-impacting events and news coverage for clients
    • Demonstrate a keen interest in business and corporate communications
    • Work closely with integrated teams to ensure quality in client programs and deliverables
    • Effectively work within timeline and account budget parameters
    • Build and manage work-back schedules and project trackers to keep client programs progressing on schedule
    • Be polished and professional in written and verbal communication
    • Participate in the new business process including research, audits and proposal development
    • Maintain strong internal/external relationships; support fellow team members

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related discipline from an accredited college or university
    • 2-3 years of related experience in internal/external communications, corporate communications and/or media relations
    • Experience with work relating to corporate reputation, issues and/or crisis, corporate internal and/or external communications
    • An understanding of the role of communications and PR agencies. Experience in agency is not a requirement, but considered an advantage
    • Experience working in a multi-project and multi-team environment
    • Knowledge of the media landscape in Canada
    • Experience with traditional and social media tools and platforms – online monitoring, blogging, Facebook, Twitter, reporting platforms, media database to build media list, etc.
    • Experience effectively executing many tactical assignments and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
    • Familiarity of CP style writing considered an asset
    • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required
    • Creative and innovative approach to problem solving
