Marketing and Communication Specialist

Do you have a passion for Marketing and Communications? Do you have an interest in promoting community health and well-being? The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Marketing and Communication Specialist who will be responsible for developing, implementing, co-ordinating and evaluating Marketing and Communications plans and strategies for the Parks and Recreation Department. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will conduct research, collect and analyse data, perform trend analysis, and recommend and implement plans and strategies for the promotion and marketing of Department programs, services and facilities. The Marketing and Communication Specialist will be responsible for a variety of promotional materials for multiple target markets. Communication responsibilities will include public information distribution, promotions, media relations and public relations.
A university degree in business, marketing, or a field related to communications is required. Five years of experience, within the past five years coordinating marketing and communications strategies and initiatives, including 6 months of experience supervising staff or project teams. The successful candidate will have superior interpersonal and communication skills, including public presentations; exceptional research, writing, proofreading, and editing skills; and excellent critical thinking skills coupled with the ability to produce effective products and campaigns. Municipal experience is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday – Friday 830 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with the occasional evening, early morning and weekend.
