Job Description

Keeping Ontario’s Legislative Assembly running smoothly takes many talented people, doing many different jobs—from camera operators and committee clerks, to purchasing officers and researchers. The Office of the Assembly is dedicated to serving Ontario’s Parliament.

Together, we provide non-partisan administrative and procedural services to all MPPs, as well as operational support for the daily activities of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Reporting to the Director, Parliamentary Protocol and Public Relations Branch, in Toronto, ON, this position involves managing, creating, developing and implementing strategic communications for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario that promote, enhance, and project our organization’s vision, brand and reputation to internal and external stakeholders. In this position, you will also manage, organize and coordinate the execution of education programming for the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

What You’ll Do
You’ll act with integrity to:
  • Develop annual plans to identify and establish work projects and programs responsive to the strategic goals and objectives of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. 
  • Employ innovative and impactful communications tactics and activities for delivery to multiple internal and external audiences via appropriate methods.
  • Ensure the creation, promotion and delivery of robust and engaging educational and interpretive programming for on-site and virtual audiences as well as in the community at large. 
  • Develop and implement promotional strategies for all programming activities to ensure effective outreach to targeted audiences.  
You’ll support our collaboration as you:
  • Provide leadership, advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Legislative Assembly’s corporate spokesperson and media contact, and cultivate relationships with journalists from media outlets.
  • Manage the visual identity program and ensure internal communications adhere to brand standards.


How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience, preferably working with different stakeholder groups in public relations and/or the communications field.
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma, preferably within journalism, business communication, marketing or public relations.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic public relations programs.
  • Experience in acting as a corporate spokesperson, comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews, with strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience managing social and digital media platforms, media relations and issues/crisis management.
  • Demonstrated background in educational and public programming.

Salary Range:  $90,348 - $135,178 per annum
