Reporting to the President & CEO, the Executive Director, Communications is responsible for leading the communications team, working collaboratively with colleagues, and providing strategic advice that enables strong relationships, understanding, trust and productive partnerships. The Executive Director is a reputational brand ambassador for NB Power and plays an important role in helping the corporation fulfill its mission and vision for positive economic and societal impact.

The Executive Director, Communications manages internal and external communications with the goal of sharing with key stakeholders and employees NB Power’s story, building support for sustainability and business goals as well as regulatory and operational requirements. The Executive Director brings an innovative and curious lens to the role, applying best practices in collaboration and insights-based communication strategies.

Qualifications

The successful candidate has an undergraduate degree in public relations, communications, business or equivalent and seven to 10 years of strategic integrated communications and corporate experience in a complex organization and working with an executive team. A track record of achieving strategic communications outcomes, including issues management, media relations and digital communications is required. The successful candidate will have a superior emotional intelligence, gravitas, and exceptional communications skills with a proven ability to cultivate strong strategic relationships and partnerships They will have a proven success leading and developing a team of highly qualified communications, creative and digital specialists; building capacity within the team and across the organization to bring everyone together. Bilingualism would also be an asset.
