Communications Coordinator

Job Description

We’re looking for new talent to join us as we reinvent the future of energy. Across BC, we have a diverse team of more than 2,400 employees we can’t do without, yet we’re growing as fast as ever.
You may think we’re your standard utility that delivers natural gas and electricity, but we’re also into cool, innovative energy solutions. Think carbon capture, renewable energies and lower-carbon transportation for a start. We believe in creating a cleaner, healthier tomorrow.
If you like meaningful work, a dynamic environment and forward-thinking colleagues, build your career with us. You’ll get opportunities to grow, lead, solve, and create. So what are you waiting for? Let’s rethink energy together.
Position Overview:
Project management and effective communication is the name of your game, and you’ve got a knack for neatly packaging your ideas and objectives to help your colleagues be in sync with your work. Your detailed organizational skills not only allow you to keep your tasks in check, but you can pivot schedules and plans that enable your team to nail deadlines and exceed expectations.
If these skills are your bread and butter, we want you to be our next Communications Coordinator. In this temporary role within our External Communications department, you’ll develop project plans and take on the role of a project leader to ensure project scopes are delivered on time, on budget and with efficient use of resources.
We’ll need your sharp eyes to identify risks and address areas of concern as you help the team chart the course for new projects. There will be lots on the go and plenty to stay on top of, but we know you’ll harness your time management prowess to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.
If you’re driven to innovate every day, join us as we rethink our energy future.
You will:

  • Learn our processes and demonstrate fundamental project management principles in a creative communications environment.
  • Identify project risks and impacts, and engage with the team to mitigate concerns.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with a diverse team in order to move projects forward efficiently and effectively.
  • Champion our safety protocols and culture.

What it takes:
  • A diploma or degree from an accredited institution in a related field, such as Project Management, Communications or Marketing, plus two to three years of relevant work experience.
  • An effective and clear communications style with the ability to receive direction and provide clear instructions to members of the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to project plan by distilling briefs and developing schedules utilizing the assigned resources.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects with several deliverables attached at any given time.
  • Working knowledge of project management and scheduling software, particularly Microsoft project.
