Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Content Strategy, the Content Writer works as a member of the communication team to create content to be leveraged across digital communication and marketing channels that engages the membership and enhances the public’s understanding of APEGA’s purpose and its value as a self-regulatory body for the engineering and geoscience professions in Alberta.

This position supports the digital content strategy set out by the Director, Communications and managed by the Manager, Digital Content Strategy to strengthen APEGA’s external profile, build its brand and key relationships, and ensure information is delivered to members and stakeholders in an engaging, timely, and informative manner.

Responsibilities

  • Support the digital content strategy by creating digital content for various internal and external delivery channels.
  • Create and deliver appropriate digital content including videos, blog posts, social media posts, email newsletters, and other digital media, as applicable.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external content producers and SMEs to develop on brand materials focused on the overall priorities of APEGA.
  • Optimize the mix of audience, content and media, ensuring these maintain the voice and overall brand of APEGA.
  • Collaborates as part of the digital content development process. Follow set priorities to ensure digital products are developed efficiently, within timelines and budget.
  • Maintain and support the editorial process and authoring guidelines.
  • Create and maintain content calendar and use metrics to refine content strategy, as necessary
  • Collaborates closely with marketing and communications team, and various “client”-side, internal divisions and departments to help develop strategies for digital components, giving attention to schedules, resources, and measurement.
  • Supports digital authoring tasks and resources required to execute plans.
  • Supports the digital publishing process proactively and effectively with project stakeholders, including internal and external contributors, when required.

  • Must have the combined analytical and creative abilities necessary to create content that’s relevant and compelling to key audiences and stakeholders.
  • Some project management experience will help keep projects on track and within budget

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Technologies, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in the digital space focused on creating/writing digital content across multiple platforms
  • Experience with SEO, SEM, Google Analytics, CRM software, CMS and automated marketing tools would be an asset.
  • Experienced in supporting and implementing a digital content strategy.
  • Experience creating content for digital newsletters, web pages, microsites, videos, and landing pages, as well as audience-focused social content.
  • Strong content portfolio demonstrating the ability to cover a wide range of subjects
  • Proven omni-channel content writing and editorial skills with the ability to align messaging across multiple channels and platforms
