Your role

Under the supervision of the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, you will be in charge of developing, overseeing and implementing a full range of activities and products related to internal, external and international communications while promoting the Corporation’s brand, vision, objectives and initiatives.

  • At the national level, you will manage activities related to our brand image, internal communications, public relations, stakeholder relations, audience relations, social media activities, partnerships, community events and in-house translation service.
  • Develop, plan and implement complex communication strategies that have a direct impact across the organization and are aimed at enhancing the Corporation’s brand image and promoting our mandate to diverse audiences. These strategies will have a direct impact on the long-term strategic direction of both the component and organization.
  • Develop promotional strategies for international activities to increase brand recognition and value, as well as to support international initiatives, partnerships and projects.
  • Guide and oversee the development of promotional strategies and activities carried out by the Board of Directors, the President and CEO, and the Senior Management Team. Directly influence decisions made by peers and senior executives.
  • Support the office of the President and CEO in all communications activities such as employee town halls, meetings with stakeholders across the country, and written correspondence.
  • Establish solid ties with a wide variety of internal stakeholders (across all departments) as well as external stakeholders, with a view to sharing information, working on common projects and building consensus around specific issues affecting the Corporation.
  • Oversee communications to support internal corporate clients, including developing and implementing communications strategies. Work in close collaboration with the Communications teams in French and English media services (Radio/Canada and CBC).
  • Ensure solid leadership of the Corporate Communications team in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto by overseeing day-to-day management and assessing employee performance.
  • Establish a close working relationship with CBC and Radio-Canada Communications teams.
  • Ensure effective budget management, specifically in the context of events or initiatives to promote our brand image.


We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Position requires a university degree in Communications, Business Management or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French (bilingualism is a must).
  • At least 10 years of communications experience and at least 6-8 years in a leadership position.
  • Extensive experience must include long-range strategic communications planning.
  • Strong ability to manage problematic issues that are complex in nature, and provide solutions that balance competing interests.
  • Strong ability to develop, write and present strategic, innovative and comprehensive communications plans to the President and CEO, Vice-Presidents and Managers.
  • Experience in developing public relations strategies at the national and international levels, with experience in international media. Work in strong collaboration with leads in government relations and public affairs.
  • Strong ability to identify current and future issues, and provide innovative communications strategies to meet business needs.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple complex and concurrent situations, issues and projects.
  • Be at the leading edge of innovative and effective communications trends, tools and tactics for both internal and external activities.
  • Strong negotiation skills (dealing with internal and external partners and vendors).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver consistently high-quality communications products.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop productive relationships with peers, staff, management, senior executives and partners.
