Energy Services provides the regulated rate option (RRO) electricity for consumers within Edmonton and parts of Alberta. Brief Posting Description:
Our Operational Communications team is seeking an experienced public relations professional. As the Senior Advisor, Communications, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and service to internal clients within EPCOR Energy Alberta (EEA). This includes the development and execution of communications plans that help to advance business goals and priorities, as well as to enhance the organization’s reputation and corporate culture.
You will be accountable for understanding business needs, for providing strategic advice to operating groups and creating results-oriented communication plans. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications, you will work closely with Operational Communications and client group team members, as well as the Public & Government Affairs group. You will be accountable for (but not limited to):
Developing communication strategies that connect with both internal and external audiences and signal strong business knowledge.
Acting as a project lead for communications programs, and executing tactics for which you will call on skills in the following areas: client consultation, writing, editing, marketing, budgeting and evaluation.
Helping enhance customer confidence in EPCOR as a trusted service provider through the development of customer awareness initiatives, as well as social media, marketing and advertising materials that resonate with the public.
Developing proactive issues management strategies to ensure timely communications support in response to emerging issues and incidents.
Supporting customer experience by creating informative materials for contact centre agents, assisting in the interpretation of research and supporting projects aimed at providing a positive customer experience and growing the number of customers served.
Representing EEA communications in company-wide initiatives and programs, such as health and safety.
Acting as an on-call, after-hours spokesperson on a weekly rotating basis with other senior communicators. This work is done in close collaboration with the relevant EPCOR spokesperson, the Manager, Communications and in compliance with EPCOR’s media relations policy and procedures.
Managing relationships with external suppliers, vendors and contractors including, research groups, events management companies and other consultants, as necessary.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Successful completion of a four-year degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related field.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible roles in internal and external communications in a related field, preferably in a large corporation, utility or organization with a matured customer experience program.
Demonstrated experience in delivering effective, measurable communications across a range of communications channels, including digital/social media.
Strong collaboration and relationship building skills with the ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization to recommend appropriate communications channels and messaging.
Excellent research, writing and editing skills across print and digital channels. Adheres to high editorial standards.
Experience in issues management, including media relations and emergency communications.
Proven project management and communication planning skills, including a high degree of comfort in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift.
Ability to envision the big picture, linking business goals/priorities and company positions to their work.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, website content management systems, web and social media analytics programs, HTML, Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop.
Experience in the utilities industry and accreditation with the International Association of Business Communicators or Canadian Public Relations Society are considered assets.
Wage: $44.41 - $52.93/hour
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
