The  Red Deer College is seeking a term certain, part-time Media Studies and Professional Communication Instructor for the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 terms.

The School of Arts and Sciences particularly seeks faculty members with superior preparation and ongoing engagement in their academic and professional fields, passion for teaching, and willingness to commit to making excellence in teaching their primary focus. The School builds itself around a vision of connecting innovation and tradition by fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in all activities: development and renewal of courses and programs, approaches to teaching and learning, and scholarly activity and community engagement by students and faculty.

The candidate will be responsible for teaching one or more of the following courses:

Fall 2019: 

  • MSPC 110 (Visual Design Principles)
  • MSPC 115 (Basic Photography)
  • MSPC210 (Marketing & Branding)
  • COMM 383 (Introduction to Public Relations)

Winter 2020: 

  • MSPC 120 (Online Communication and Social Media); 
  • MSPC 215 (Introduction to Project Management)


  • MA in Communications or related field (candidates with a relevant MBA will also be considered) or a Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience.
  • Recent professional experience in the instructional area.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
