This position leads a group of professionals responsible for the development, execution and measurement of AGLC’s brand, including the organization’s digital media channels. The successful candidate will lead AGLC’s brand development, corporate marketing initiatives, internal communications activities and digital presence. The incumbent will support the President & CEO and AGLC leadership in being brand ambassadors, demonstrating AGLC’s values and culture, and helping to maintain our positive reputation within the community.

Some key activities for this role include:

  • Develop a corporate brand strategy that complements and helps guide AGLC’s sub-brands
  • Develop a brand platform that includes AGLC’s positioning, brand characteristics and voice (look and feel)
  • Market research to understand our brand performance, as well as analyze our brand positioning and consumer insights to help evolve our brand strategy 
  • Develop take-to-market strategies and subsequent promotional campaigns
  • Develop a measurement framework including brand awareness, return on marketing investment and other key performance indictors
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate internal communications strategy with measurable results
  • Manage the creation and implementation of social media marketing strategies, showcasing the AGLC brand, including ongoing content development, maintenance and evaluation of AGLC’s social media platforms
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive evolution strategy for the AGLC web properties, ensuring support of the AGLC brand and support of AGLC strategic objectives
  • Be AGLC’s corporate marketing champion and collaborate with marketing professionals throughout the organization to ensure a coordinated approach

The Manager, Brand and Digital Media reports to the Director, Communications, Digital Media & Brand and is a member of the Communications, Digital Media & Brand leadership team. The Manager works closely with the Manager, Communications and Manager, Issues and Stakeholder Relations to ensure a coordinated approach to support the organization’s strategic needs, while working with all levels and departments in our organization to tell the story of who we are, what we do and how the revenues we generate benefit all Albertans. This leadership role fosters collaborative working relationship with all areas of AGLC that perform marketing-related activities.

  • Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business administration with 4 years or more of integrated marketing experience including: digital marketing, traditional advertising, event marketing, corporate communications and/or social community management with a focus on social media and other digital channels 
  • Experience in leading marketing and communications teams focused on brand, internal communication and/or digital media
  • Experience in brand development including research to understand/define the brand positioning, as well as the development of brand platforms.
  • Experience with content management system driven public websites or intranets.

The following experience would be considered an asset:

  • Ongoing education in fields of study related to the position, such as brand development, social media, web presence and internal communications
  • Experience with Government of Alberta processes and policies as they relate to marketing activities and ABCs (agencies, boards and commissions) including knowledge of the Alberta Purchasing Connection system.
  • Experience in managing budgets and solid understanding of print and graphic design principals
  • Knowledge and use of digital environments, social networks and engagement platforms
  • Knowledge of current social and digital concepts, techniques and trends
