The Director, Communications reports to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is responsible for internal and external communications activities of the Region. As the chief storyteller, the Director implements the Region's Master Narrative through proactive communications and marketing, speechwriting, issues management, crisis communications, media relations, social media, community and public relations. The Director provides thoughtful, strategic, and creative professional communications advice to the CAO, Regional Chair, Regional Councillors, Department Heads, and staff of all levels across the Region. Leading a team of professional communicators, the Director oversees their growth and professional development. The Director plays a lead role in emergency information activities and is also the chief spokesperson for the Region – both proactively and in crisis communications and issues-management capacity.
