Our Communications branch is responsible for a full range of communications and public engagement services as well as a variety of new and exciting projects to improve processes and service as well as implementation and evaluation of those services, and we are looking for a leader to help us get there.

Is an accomplished senior level professional with a solid foundation in strategic communications and public engagement planning, media relations and crisis communications, consultation and research coordination as well as web and social media management. You envision and implement change and initiatives in a methodical and collaborative manner. Your communications expertise and big picture thinking balances the needs of stakeholders and clients at all levels (internally, externally, departmentally and corporately). You are thoughtful, influential and strategic to ensure success and results within government structures and processes. Job requirements: travel within Yukon, Canada and occasionally abroad



Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field of study
  • Significant senior management experience (preferably in a government setting) providing strategic advice, direction and recommendations on complex communications and public engagement projects and initiatives
  • Significant experience developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans, programs and policies.
  • Experience managing digital communications including social media and website development.
  • Significant experience managing financial resources and leading a communications team; strong people management skills with the ability to mentor, lead and manage the performance of direct reports.

Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
