Job Description

What is the Public Service Commission?

The Public Service Commission represents the Yukon government as the employer and provides human resource advice and support services to other Yukon government departments and employees. The PSC Communications and Engagement Unit coordinates the majority of the government’s internal corporate communications as well as the employee engagement survey.

What opportunities does this position provide?

  • We’re looking for someone to join our team who is creative, client-oriented and passionate about improving the workplace experience for all Yukon government public servants.
  • As a communications professional, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues working in a variety of areas such as organizational development, health, safety & wellness, labour relations and diversity and inclusion. This work often connects you with human resource professionals and senior leaders in other departments of the government.
  • You will work closely with the Yukon Bureau of Statistics to manage the deployment of the employee engagement survey. You manage the communication of the survey results and develop material and provide support to improve the employee experience across government.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of communications tasks and develop your skills in areas such as media relations, speech writing, and developing content for websites, newsletters, blogs and social media.
  • This is for a full-time, 2-year term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly. Preference will be given to Aboriginal candidates.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of a degree in a relevant discipline (communications, public relations, policy, public administration, human resources)
  • Experience producing communications materials (news releases, reports, website content etc.)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience analyzing and reporting on information/data
  • Candidates who have education, training, and significant experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
