The Opportunity

We are currently looking for Communications Specialists (1 full-time and 1 term position) in our Communications and Corporate Affairs department in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  This position has responsibilities in communicating with a variety of key stakeholder groups within and external to the Corporation. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Research and write content for WCLC internal communications 
  • Write and edit media releases for major lottery wins, game launches, and other initiatives 
  • Contribute to and execute internal and external communication plans for product launches and other corporate initiatives
  • Ongoing contact with media on routine information requests and event coordination as needed
  • Manage media monitoring and compile summary for WCLC senior leaders
  • Act as a trusted advisor to provide communications counsel and support to other departments and colleagues within WCLC 
  • Research and understand processes and procedures, working with Human Resources to create strong corporate policies and procedures 
  • Coordinate with counterparts in partner organizations on communications projects
  • Support issues management and planning
  • Review internal and external documents for grammar, spelling, tone, and corporate voice
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Degree/diploma in Communications or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years applicable job experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience writing and tailoring content including web and social media an asset
  • Previous media relations / spokesperson experience an asset
  • Experience in event planning / hosting an asset
  • Experience with policy/procedure writing an asset
