Evolving Expectations for Deliberate Communicators

Each year, the National conference welcomes hundreds of delegates from across Canada to some of the nation’s most popular destinations. Featuring a combination of keynote speakers, parallel workshops, panel discussions and evening events, its primary goal is to further professional development in the field of public relations and communications management as well as provide networking opportunities with leading Canadian practitioners.

CPRS National is now accepting workshop proposals for Evolving Expectations for Deliberate Communicators, its next national conference in Edmonton Alta., June 2-4, 2019.
This year’s program will explore the many facets of our rapidly changing industry by focusing on the topics that matter most to today’s practitioners.

Possible topics include:

  • Best practices in communication strategy
  • Effective writing and storytelling
  • Understanding public mood and stakeholder expectations
  • Mentoring and coaching junior practitioners
  • Building and maintaining relationships
  • Social responsibility and reputation management
  • Maximizing ROI through effective measurement and data analysis
  • Employee engagement and loyalty through communications
  • The impact of current events on the profession
After Your Submission is Received

The Workshop Selection Committee will review all proposals and contact potential presenters for further information as necessary. Speakers whose presentations are selected will be notified via email by November 14th, 2018.

Speaker's Agreement and Communication

Following their proposal’s selection, presenters will be asked to sign a speaker’s agreement of engagement. As part of the speaker's agreement, they agree to maintain an educational focus in their session and to eliminate all sales messages/presentations. Furthermore, they agree to submit all required information e.g. audio-visual needs, a biography, photograph and session description, etc., within the timeframe specified in the agreement.


If selected to present, speakers will not receive any fees for appearing and will be responsible for all expenses incurred as a result their participation. However, in recognition of their contribution, speakers are eligible to purchase a full conference pass at the discounted ‘Speaker rate’ or attend the event on the day of their presentation only free of charge.
