The Challenges of Communications in Sports and Entertainment

After more than 20 years at National Public Relations, Paul Wilson joined the Montreal Canadiens holding company, Groupe CH, in 2018 when the organization began transforming its business structure. As head of communications, Mr. Wilson faces the numerous challenges associated with managing the fast-paced business functions of one of the largest, most visible, and most talked about sports and entertainment companies in North America. Paul Wilson officially joined the organization on August 6 following his appointment as Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications for Groupe CH on May 18. Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, he oversees all aspects of public affairs and communications of the company, and specifically the Montreal Canadiens and evenko.

Paul Wilson comes from NATIONAL Public Relations, where he had been a partner since 2011, heading the Corporate Communications group working closely with several key accounts that included ArcelorMittal, Bombardier, Cogeco, Lowe's and Molson Coors. Before returning to NATIONAL in 2010, where he had spent 12 years from 1988 to 2000, Paul served as Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Planning for 3 years at GPF1, a company that owns and operates Formula 1 and NASCAR races in Canada. Previously, he was Vice President, Public Affairs, for a major brewery from 2000 to 2007.

Paul's educational background includes a Bachelor, with a major in political science, from McGill University in 1988. He holds a certification in finance obtained in 2004 from the Queen's School of Business, and an executive program certificate achieved in 2002.
