Who We Are

About Us

Founded in 1948, The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is an organization of professionals who practice public relations and communications in Canada and abroad. For the past seventy years, our members have worked to maintain the highest standards of practice and to share a uniquely Canadian experience in public relations.

Today, we are a federation of 13 Local Societies based in major cities or organized province-wide. All local CPRS organizations adhere to the rules and regulations established by both the National and Local Societies.

In cooperation with its regional Member Societies and with like-minded organizations in other countries, CPRS works to advance the professional stature of public relations and regulates its practice for the benefit and protection of the public interest.

CPRS Public Relations Definition

"Public relations is the strategic management of relationships between an organization and its diverse publics, through the use of communication, to achieve mutual understanding,
realize organizational goals and serve the public interest."

(Flynn, Gregory & Valin, 2008)
