It’s summertime … time for R&R and a little reading.

It’s summertime … time for R&R and a little reading.
Wayne Knorr, APR
CPRS National President

It’s summertime, and as the song goes, the livin’ is easy. With COVID-19 and other work pressures, it’s been a busy time for CPRS members and I hope you will get some vacation time.

As pandemic restrictions loosen, I trust this will involve getting out of the house, connecting with family and friends, and enjoying a little rest and relaxation.

For me, I am looking forward to getting to the beach. Being near the water provides me with some downtime to reflect and catch up on some reading.

Got some time on your hands in July and August? Here are five things CPRS members may want to read (and watch) during the lazy, hazy days of summer.

  • Read the nomination information to run for the CPRS National Board of Directors. The deadline to apply is Thursday, July 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET. My time on the national board has been a very rewarding experience. I would encourage you to consider giving back to your profession by letting your name stand.

  • See the results of Canada’s PR industry first comprehensive diversity & inclusion survey conducted by Leger for CPRS, CCPRF and IABC. All three associations have pledged to continue their work to increase diversity and inclusion throughout the industry.  This is important for our profession.

  • Still looking for ideas?  CPRS members can check out the CPRS Bill Rees Learning Centre at any time.  Watch the webinars on file there or check out the APR reading list, which includes a list of the most important books on PR and communications management!

Whether you get a chance to read CPRS materials, get lost in your favourite book or movie, listen to some great music, connect with family and friends, do a little travelling, or just spend some time in nature, I wish you all a happy and safe summer!
