Playbook Communications
Mike Van Soelen is Founder and President of Playbook Communications. He created the company to help leading organizations tell their stories to their most important audiences. Van Soelen began work in the grassroots of Canadian journalism at two smaller daily newspapers in Ontario. He also contributed to some of the country’s largest publications, such as The Globe and Mail, and won several awards for his writing.
Van Soelen has held several senior positions in both the Ontario and Federal governments. His posts have included serving as Chief of Staff to the Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and federally as Director of Communications to the President of the Treasury Board and the Minister of the Environment.
Van Soelen has also served as a top consultant at one of the country’s largest public relations firms, where he counseled clients in the finance, government and health sectors.
Van Soelen has an Honours degree in History and Philosophy from the University of Guelph and a Masters of Journalism from the University of Western Ontario.
