Business Case

In February, 2010, Walmart Canada hosted the Walmart Green Business Summit in Vancouver, B.C. The summit’s aim was to show the 300 plus Canadian CEOs and NGO directors in attendance that green business practices are good for the bottom line: they reduce waste, cut costs and improve brand image. To continue building its reputation as a sustainable retailer and to maintain the momentum of the summit, Walmart Canada engaged Reputations to launch ShareGreen.ca, a summit legacy project that could facilitate further learning and collaboration. The website would be national in reach, cost-effective to operate and be more accessible than a physical library or one-day event.

Target Audience

While developing the ShareGreen.ca campaign, Reputations had three stakeholders in mind: government, businesses and NGOs.

Objectives

Walmart Canada’s 2010 goal was to be ranked #1 in Canada among thought-leaders for sustainable business practices by 2015. Reputations created clear objectives to help execute the Walmart Green Business Summit:

  • To raise Walmart Canada’s profile as a green business thought-leader.
  • To obtain case studies and participation from 10 nationally-recognized brands in the first year.
  • To maintain steady traffic levels with 1,000 visits per month, and at least two page visits per person.
  • To use Linkedin to drive traffic from an engaged audience.

Result

Was the launch of ShareGreen.ca a success? Did nationally-recognized brands submit green business case studies to the website? Find out this and more in the webinar with Reputations!
