CPRS welcomes five new members to the College of Fellows

TORONTO, ON-June 15, 2007 -- The Canadian Public Relations Society announces that five additional members have been admitted to the College of Fellows. They are:

  • Scott Bonikowsky, APR (Toronto)
  • Andrea Collins, APR (Edmonton)
  • Martine Dorval, ARP (Montréal)
  • Pierrette Leonard, APR (Ottawa)
  • Karen K. Stone, APR (Nova Scotia)

They were appointed on the recommendation of College Committee members Luc Beauregard, APR, Fellow CPRS, Don LaBelle APR, Fellow CPRS, Bart Mindszenthy, APR, Fellow CPRS, and Barbara Sheffield APR, Fellow CPRS.

In welcoming the new members, Committee Chairman Luc Beauregard said: "We are pleased to welcome these new Fellows and to recognize their contribution to public relations. We encourage other qualified members to submit applications."

To qualify for Fellowship status, members must have been public relations practitioners for 20 years, CPRS members for 10 years and must have obtained Accredited Public Relations (APR) practitioner certification. They must also be recognized as having brought a significant contribution to the practice of public relations and to the Canadian Public Relations Society.

In addition, .three members were appointed as Honorary Fellows. They are Hugh Tilley, APR (Toronto), Mary Barker, APR (Nova Scotia), B.A. (Scoop) Fredstrom, APR (New Brunswick).

There are currently 43 members in the College of Fellows, including this year's appointments, and 24 Honorary Fellows.

College of Fellows nominations for 2008 will be accepted up to February 1, 2008.
