CPRS welcomes seven new members and six honorary members to the College of Fellows
CALGARY, AB June 20, 2005 - The Canadian Public Relations Society announces seven new members have been admitted to the College of Fellows. They are:
- John Bowles, APR, Isle of Man
- Daniel N. Granger, ARP, Quebec
- Gordon Kenneth McIvor, APR, Toronto
- Janet E. MacMillan, APR, Nova Scotia
- Pat McNamara, APR, Toronto
- Patricia Parsons, APR, Nova Scotia
- Richard Sparkes, APR, Newfoundland
The above members were appointed on the recommendation of College of Fellows Committee members Luc Beauregard, APR, Fellow CPRS, Don LaBelle APR, Fellow CPRS, Bart Mindszenthy, APR, Fellow CPRS, and Barbara Sheffield APR, Fellow CPRS. In welcoming the new members, Committee Chairman Luc Beauregard said: "We are pleased to welcome these new Fellows and to recognize their contribution to public relations. We encourage other qualified members to submit applications." To qualify for Fellowship status, members must have been public relations practitioners for 20 years, CPRS members for 10 years and must have obtained Accredited Public Relations (APR) practitioner certification. They must also be recognized as having brought a significant contribution to the practice of public relations and to the Canadian Public Relations Society.
In addition, six members were appointed as Honorary Fellows. They are Raymond Argyle, APR (Toronto), Roselle Green, APR (Nova Scotia), Patrick H. Macleod, APR (Spain), Jim Osborne, APR (Calgary), Roberta Resnick, APR (Toronto) and Lesley Spencer APR (Toronto).
There are currently 39 members in the College of Fellows, including this year's appointments, and 18 Honorary Fellows.
The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is the only Canadian professional association representing more than 1,600 public relations practitioners in 16 Member Societies across Canada who commit to following a Code of Professional Standards. The Society offers a program of professional accreditation in public relations (APR), professional development and education programs affiliated with various colleges and universities, a job registry, networking opportunities, annual national conference, a directory of all members and a forum for information sharing.
College of Fellows nominations for 2006 will be accepted up to February 28, 2006.
