Job Description

The South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority (SCBCTA), more commonly known as Translink, is Metro Vancouver’s regional transportation authority. They are responsible for regional transit, cycling and commuting options as well as AirCare and Intelligent Transportation System programs. Services are delivered through operating companies.  TransLink, plans, finances and oversees an integrated transportation network that links 22 municipalities in Canada’s third largest urban region and connects the Nation to its trading partners in the Western United States and the Pacific Rim. 

The Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations will be responsible for establishing the enterprise-wide
communications strategy and plan for TransLink, and ensuring alignment to the organization’s common mission, vision and values. Reporting to the Executive VP  Strategic Planning & Public Affairs, the Director, Communications & Stakeholder Relations will direct the execution of their responsibilities through staff, media, public, community, investor and other stakeholder communication programs in support of corporate objectives and high profile projects and initiatives.


The requirements for this position are typically acquired through a bachelor degree in communication or other related discipline, and 10+ years of related experience at progressive levels of accountability or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must have expert knowledge of all internal and external communications concepts and practices; be versed in communication strategy and delivery, including integrated, proactive and reactive communications campaigns; be skilled at crisis management and social media strategy; have proficient interpersonal and
communication skills; possess the ability to identify risks and leverage opportunities, and have superior analytical and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the successful candidate must have advanced leadership abilities, as they will be responsible for managing and overseeing reporting managers and relationships with subsidiary companies.
