CPRS Award of Attainment
For outstanding achievement and service to public relations. Presented to a CPRS member whose personal activities and/or leadership have gone beyond the call of duty or responsibility to an employer or client and resulted in a pronounced contribution to the status and acceptance of the public relations function as a whole.
CPRS Shield of Public Service
For distinguished and dedicated service in the public interest. Awarded to a CPRS member whose personal effort on behalf of a public service endeavour and entirely apart from the contribution required by client or employer, demonstrated unselfish, outstanding and persistent dedication to the cause or movement.
Outstanding Achievement Award
For recognition of a single, major contribution made by a Society member, which has resulted in the betterment of CPRS through the enhancement of its image in the eyes of other Canadians, or the world-at-large. While this award recognizes the long-term dedication of a CPRS member, the Outstanding Achievement Award pays tribute to a single, but nonetheless significant effort. Due to this award’s special nature and because the member’s contribution must be “extraordinary”, it may not be awarded every year. Recipients receive a framed certificate at the National Annual Conference.
Philip A. Novikoff Memorial Award
For recognition of superior and outstanding service over time as a public relations professional. Awarded to an accredited CPRS member who has furthered the standing of the public relations profession in Canada through professional practice and personal relations as well as the enhancement of CPRS and the betterment of the community.
Nomination must be made by a current accredited CPRS member and endorsed by three additional current accredited CPRS members. A list of criteria is available at the CPRS National Office. Applications will be reviewed and evaluated by a special committee.
The winner receives a certificate and cash award, bestowed in memory of a long-time CPRS member, the late Philip A. Novikoff.
The Don Rennie Memorial Award for Excellence in Government Public Relations
The Don Rennie Memorial Award recognizes outstanding team achievement in developing and executing a strategic approach to government communications on a specific issue. This award is open to government communications professionals in federal, provincial or municipal jurisdictions. One of the team members must be a current member of CPRS. The Award is presented annually in memory of Don Rennie. Winners receive a certificate and cash award.
CPRS Lamp of Service
For distinguished and dedicated service to CPRS. Awarded to a CPRS member whose personal activities and/or leadership and dedication have resulted in a striking illustration of the Society’s principles, contributed to a notable advance in the Society’s prestige, or provided a consolidation of the Society’s sound establishment.
CPRS Lectern
Awarded annually to the Member Society demonstrating the greatest advancement in its purpose and goals through membership growth, meeting attendance, development of Member Society sponsored educational programs, initiation of PR for PR activities, and growth in accreditation. The winning Society is awarded cash to be used towards professional development activities in the coming year. This award is bestowed in memory of long-time CPRS member, the late Norman A. Dann, the Society’s 14th National President (1966-1967).
Submissions by individual Member Societies and/or the National Executive Committee will be considered by the Presiding Officer, Awards Committee in consultation with the National President.
CN - Emery Leblanc Award

Awarded annually, this is both a Society and individual award based on annual net membership growth. It is awarded in two membership categories:
- Up to 75 members
- More than 75 members
Winners receive a cash award in memory of the late Emery LeBlanc APR, a CN employee, National CPRS President in 1977-1978 and one of the first accredited members of the Society.
Mentor of the Year Diamond Jubilee Award
This award, established to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of CPRS, recognizes the outstanding effort of an accredited public relations practitioner who consistently and actively mentors public relations practitioners to advance in their careers. The Mentor of the Year exemplifies the critical role that mentoring plays in the advancement of the public relations profession.
CPRS President’s Award for Outstanding Public Relations and Communications Management
The President’s Award for Outstanding Public Relations and Communications Management, a prestigious public relations honour, is awarded by the CPRS Board of Directors to an individual with exceptional involvement in the promotion and practice of public relations. The award recognizes the outstanding effort of a Canadian who through their communications leads to the advancement / betterment of the public relations practice at large. The winner of the distinguished President’s Award consistently demonstrates outstanding leadership in communications and excellence in communications management.
