CPRS acknowledges excellence in Public Relations

TORONTO, ON, June 19, 2007 - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) today announced the recipients of its Awards of Excellence program. Many public relations practitioners from all over Canada attended a highly successful, annual awards ceremony on Friday, June 15th as part of the Canadian Public Relations Conference held in Edmonton, Alberta, Ontario last week.

The recipients of the CPRS 2007 Awards of Excellence are:

Communications Management: Sharon Marshall, World Vision Canada: "World Vision's One Life Experience and International Aids Conference 2006 Campaign"

Marketing Communications: Cynthia Ulba, Region of Peel: "Safe Communities for Children "Home Safety" Campaign"

Outstanding Achievement Award: Pierrette Leonard, APR, Fellow CPRS (Ottawa)

Lectern Award: CPRS Manitoba

Emery LeBlanc Membership Achievement Award:

over 75 members: Canadian Public Relations Society (Calgary).

Recipients of the CPRS Special Awards are:

Don Rennie Memorial Award for Excellence in Government Public Relations: Robyn Quinn, APR, former Senior Communications Officer, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (Halifax, NS)

CPRS/CNW Student Award of Excellence: Kelsey Aman (Royal Roads University, Victoria), Jonathan Gendron (Université Laval, Québec City)

Frontline Risk and Crisis Communications Student Award: Michael Sheehan (Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax), Julia Schriver (Kwantlen University College, Vancouver), Shawna Holm (University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg)

The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is the Canadian professional association representing more than 1,600 public relations practitioners in 16 Member Societies across Canada who commit to following a Code of Professional Standards.
