Agreement between the public relations and marketing communications Chair (UQAM) and the Canadian Public Relations Society
Montreal, Quebec - The UQAM Public Relation and Communication Marketing Chair (CRPCM) signed an agreement today with The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), where CPRS will provide financial assistance and participate on an advisory committee to contribute to the first Major Study on Generally Accepted Practices (GAP) in the communications industry in Canada, which will get underway this month .
This research will enable better understanding on how communications activities are organized in Canadian companies and organizations. The study will be conducted every year for three years in order to track changes in the industry’s business practices, with a view to benchmark best national practices. By surveying communications managers and directors throughout the country, the Chair hopes to obtain a realistic account of the role played by communications and the place it occupies in Canadian society.
The first year’s results will be presented at the CPRS National Conference in Saint John’s, New Brunswick, in June 2011. “Furthering our understanding on public relations/communications in Canada is critical to the advancement of our profession,” says Dr. Terry Flynn, President, CPRS. “We look forward to the results of this important research project.”
“It is a great asset for this important study to have the only Canadian public relations professional association participating,” says Bernard Motulsky, Chairholder, UQAM.
