History

In 1996, Canada launched a reciprocity initiative to open up a new era of global cooperation and opportunities in the field of public relations.   In June 2000, reciprocity agreements were signed with a number of countries. In 2001 two more agreements were signed. One of the features of these agreements is the portability of your membership status from one association to the next with minimum process.

In addition to existing reciprocity with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the agreement means that the public relations societies in the

and Canada will recognize each other's professional accreditation.   Canada also signed a similar agreement with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Canada, along with a core group of 28 other Associations, is also committed to forming a framework for mutual international cooperation on a more formal basis. The alliance partners welcome your visit to their Web sited where a multitude of information is shared with global partners. This new Global Alliance has provide a forum for a much broader level of co-operation between national public relations associations and regional, supra-regional and international associations active in public relations and communication.
